Race 12: The Preakness (Grade 1), $1,000,000, 3 YO, 1 3/16 Miles, 6:15 PM |
||
The only race we bet on - actually Tina, Jeff (virtually) & me -- hmm the only ones brave or stupid enough to bet. Jeff almost won something big- Racecar Rhapsody was in 2nd place when he ran in front of us, but he placed 4th. If Racecar Rhapsody would have placed 3rd, we would've been on an high -- rats.
I just knew I would've picked one of the long shots through my research -- so much for my research & knowledge:-) It would've been more interesting to place a small wager on all the races, but I wasn't feeling good enough to be going up & down the stairs and I wanted more to watch the horses, events and spectators... The people in front of us were from New York and did bet on all the races. The one family did come ahead by $5.50 - wow! But he said that he had fun. I asked if they were going to the Belmont. He replied, "No, they weren't that much into racing..."
I thought this time would be a good time to see The Preakness since there was a chance of a winner of the Triple Crown - we'll see. We went to see the Royals play the year they had a chance to win the World Series - I think I was a little premature, but they did finally win one later.
Dad flew James one vacation with him to Ruidoso Downs - leaving mom & me in Lone Wolf :-( I did go to a horse race in Missouri with Paul & Myrtle and I was able to see the horses before they ran and was winning on my predictions, but we didn't bet...
